NEON: OUT TAKES
STREET SONG

Thorazine queens in their limozines
bible stompin' carnies bang their tambourines
sad-eyed hopefuls in their three piece suits
polyester crusin' the boys in boots
side walk vendors work their crowd appeal
fast talkin' mouchers try to bum a meal
Broadway honies sell a chance to cop a feel
card sharks sucker you on every deal
one man bands and corner news stands
sure footed sneakers with the fastest hands
non-stop taffic jammin' in your ears
a cloud of diesal fumes and dust that never clears
the midway's alive as the energy grows
barkers on corner shout out "Give it a go!"
the dancers are dancing with those they don't know
and everyone’s come to get in on the show

Step right up!
Step right up!
The show's about to begin
Step right up!
Come on, step right up!
Hurry or you might not get in

Step right up and see Jack Charming
Pay the price and see the show
For the faint of heart in may be too alarming
for he'll show you every trick he knows

Such a long mean thing he carries.
He's worked it hard all through the years
And every show that Jack performs
is filled with screams and cheers

Step right up!
Step right up!
Let's see how far you can go
Step right up!
You never can tell
It might be someone you know
There's a rumor running on the south side on town
that knows everybody for miles aroun'
There's no limit to how far it can go
'cause she just loves to do it for the sake of the show ...

with Monday's blues
and Thursday's frowns
and Saturday's ups
and Sunday's downs
and Tuesday's sister
who's Wednesday's child
and Friday's brother who's turnin' wild

He wants to expose himself
He has no secrets
And I'm sure you all will appreciate his honesty

Should he not allow this inclination
to increase his circulation
and let the blood rush to his head ...
turnin' it so rosey red

Or, should he just let it hang, hang, hang
like a gun without its bang, bang, bang ...
and let it gently twang against
a neighboring thigh or two

He's a snake charmer ...
does so many shows a day
with a snake that's know to bight you
if you get caught in its way

Such a reputation this boy has
for one who started out so young
And every time that Jack performs ...
the crowd is sure to come

Shall he do a simple levitation
brought about by stimulation
and refresh this soul so pale and weak ...
and let some color blush his cheek

And so refreshed, he'll try to stand ...
too proud to need the use of hand ...
so stiff and straight with head held high ...
he'll beckon you with every sigh
