SHIPWRECKED
FLOATING WITH THE SWELLS WE'D BE
ARM AND ARM SO HAPPILY
WITH ALL THE SHARKS
ALONE
AND THOUGH THIS COULD GIVE QUITE A SCARE
AND ON YOUR NECK RAISE ALL YOUR HAIR
COULD THIS BE LOVE?
love?
love...
that never ending gaseous state of euphoria
the stuff that makes poets of us all
and in spite of this highest form of evolution
where thinkers reach for words to describe the inevitably indescribable
we find ourselves pining away
pondering where or when we can get the slightest glimpse
or smell
or be able to touch what has crashed us down to the lowest phylum
in the animal kingdom
where we just squeeze out sighs of air
while complacently sitting in the corner of a room
like warm jello
BUT SOON THERE'D BE THIS TELEPHONE
DRIFTING BY
WE'D CALL FOR RESCUE TO THE PLANES
UP IN THE SKY
THESE BIG FISH THINK THEY HAVE A MEAL
BUT PROVIDENCE WILL QUICKLY STEAL
THEIR LUNCH AWAY
AND PLUCKED FROM JAWS OF PENDING DOOM
THROUGH THE AIR WE BOTH WILL ZOOM
THIS MIGHT BE LOVE
love?
love
hmmmm
I remember this girl who had the most curious way of grabbing my attention
it was more than just the way she smiled
it defied logic
and she soon proved herself to be rather astute
in all characteristics of conversation
you can just imagine our areas of discussion
and it was rather refreshing
to see her take on a different posture
and force me to go to great lengths
to get my point across
SUCH RAPTURE HANGING FROM A STRING
MAKING LOVE WHILE ON THE WING
HOW WE WILL FLY
OUR TETHER SLOWLY FRAYING
AS WE HAVE TO TRY
FOR NEW POSITIONS NEVER YET OBTAINED
AND OUR LOVING ROPE NOW OVER STRAINED...
WILL SNAP AND YOU AND I WILL HAVE TO FALL
IF THIS BE LOVE
WE'LL ROLL INTO A BALL
IN BED WE'LL WAKE UP IN EACH OTHERS ARMS
FROM THE CRASH AND ALL THE SHIPS ALARMS
well ...
LET'S GO BACK TO YOU AND ME
FLOATING WITH THE SWELLS SOMEWHERE AT SEA
I thought this was love ...
