Thoughts of Glass (September 9, 2005)

Glass is very feminine.
When it is heated white hot, like a woman it becomes liquid.
Cobalt blue glass is hypnotic in appearance
Quite alluring.
One wants to hold it, fondle it, see if it feels different
And when you hold it to the light
It allows little to pass through
Clutching its secrets tightly
If tinted a deep crimson red
That color also fascinates with resoundings of passion
It too invites the fingers to embrace it.
Visually it resembles the setting sun
Before it slips into the ocean and boils the sea.
So women love to be held and beheld.
But glass, like ladies, also poses dangers.
If you shatter a woman
Much like diving through a plate glass window,
You risk being shredded by her.
There is something deeply sensual
About running your finger gently over a piece of broken glass
Just so you can feel the sharpness without risking a cut
The urge to open the jugular or the carotid is quite tempting
While watching one’s essence flow away
Until the deep and dreamless sleep ensues.
